Lena Severin

Tone But let's start with the basics first:

How do I know if I have combination skin ?

These are the four skin types: oily, dry, combination skin and "normal" skin. At JUNGLÜCK , we don't think much of the term "normal" - after all, all skin is normal, no matter what it looks like. That's why we will soon be calling this skin type "balanced skin". But back to combination skin: It is a combination of oily and dry skin. Cheeks and the skin around the eyes tend to be dry, while the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) tends to be oily . In terms of skincare, this means that what works for one area is not necessarily ideal for the other. But don't worry, you don't have to buy two different skincare routines. Grooming combination skin is actually less complicated than it sounds at first.

Are you still unsure whether you really have combination skin ? Our skin advisor will guide you through a short survey about your skin type, provide information about the condition of your skin and suggest some products for you. So if you want to make sure, click hereto take the test and then relax and read through my tips for your combination skin.

1st tip: cleanser - The be-all and end-all of skin care

You wouldn't believe how much you can do wrong in the first step of cleanser . You should remove cleansers that contain aggressive surfactants or alcohol from your bathroom cabinet as soon as possible. Although the skin feels wonderfully clean after cleanser , such products also strip the skin of moisture and break down the skin barrier, washing out valuable lipids and fats. The skin therefore has a lot more work to do after cleanser to rebalance and regenerate itself. In the long term, this can exacerbate the dryness of the cheeks and eyes. And the oily shine of the T-zone will not improve either, as the skin produces much more sebum to rebuild the oils that have been washed out. So it's better to take a critical look at the shelf.

It is better to use mild cleaners like our Cleansing Oil or Cleansing Gel. And before you ask yourself whether oil is out of place on oily skin: No, the combination of oils and gentle sugar surfactants bind excess sebum, dirt and even make-up, and Cleanse very thoroughly, but without stripping the skin. The Cleansing Gel is lighter in texture and soothes the skin right from the first step of your routine with the chamomile extract it contains.

2nd tip: Zone care - respond to the needs of your combination skin

As mentioned at the beginning, you cannot necessarily use the same product for your entire face. This is definitely possible in the first step of cleanser . But when it comes to creams and serums, your skin has two faces. Actives from serums or moisturizers like our hyaluronic acid Concentrate moisturize your entire face. However, make sure to limit richer creams to your cheeks. The area around your eyes also deserves a separate Eye Cream. The aim is to provide dry skin with sufficient nutrients and moisture, while rebalancing and moisturizing the T-zone. We have put together a special combination skin skincare set for precisely these needs, the components of which I will introduce to you in more detail in this article.

3rd tip: Fruit acid - AHA peeling

The so-called alpha-hydroxy acid sounds very dangerous at first, but it is not at all. With our AHA peeling you have a gentle fruit acid peeling that you can use two to three times a week in the evening as a leave-on product. So please don't rinse-off! It penetrates deep into the layers of the skin and moisturizes it, while at the same time having a regenerating effect by promoting the breakdown of excess sebum and dead skin cells. Both the oily and dry areas of your face benefit from this effect.

4th tip: Oil at combination skin? Yes, but not every one!

At first, it sounds like exactly what you shouldn't do: use a facial oil on oily skin. But not all oils are the same. The decisive factor here is the degree of comedogenicity. This describes whether it has a pore-clogging effect or not. With Jojoba Oil for example, has a comedogenicity level of 1, which is why it is well suited for skin care. Even for oily skin. It binds sebum without clogging your pores and regulates the production of sebum. As oily skin tends to overproduce sebum, it helps to bring this process back into balance with Jojoba Oil .

Another oil, which is also particularly suitable for oily skin, is our Squalane - Incidentally, it is also included in the combination skin set. Squalane is already a natural component of our skin and is the lightest of our oils. Even though our oil is extracted from olives, it is so similar in structure to the skin's own squalene that it is wonderfully absorbed and tolerated by the skin. This signals to your skin that it does not need to produce any more sebum and the moisture balance is evened out. As a binding agent, it channels the Actives of your skincare even better and deeper into the skin.

5th tip: Treat pimples in a targeted manner instead of focusing your routine on blemishes

If you frequently have to deal with blemishes on your combination skin , it is important that you treat them selectively. Don't go straight for aggressive "anti-pimple" cleansers, serums or toners. These often contain bad alcohols, potential allergens and other ingredients that are more likely to harm the skin in the long term than help it. It is better to treat pimples directly, for example with the Spot cream.

It only dries out pimples where they are and does not affect the entire facial skin. With our Spot cream and the zinc oxide it contains, you can take care of these unpleasant companions in several ways. It has an anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect, inhibits the inflammatory reaction and helps pimples to subside more quickly. The blue camomile oil supports the healing process of your skin. After all, a pimple is nothing more, but also nothing less than an inflammation.

6th tip: Seasonal routines - winter and summer skin needs more flexible care

You may have noticed it yourself: your skin behaves differently in winter and summer. While in summer you rely more on moisturizers such as aloe vera gel and hyaluronic acid Concentrate your skin needs richer care in winter, such as day or night cream. It's no different at combination skin . So keep an eye on your skin as the seasons change and adjust your routine accordingly.

7th tip: Antioxidants

Antioxidants are what protect our skin from free radicals, the attackers of our skin cells, Protect. They strengthen the skin's protective barrier, prevent cell damage and even increase protection against UV radiation. For your daily dose of antioxidants, we recommend one of our Vitamin C seren (Intensive or Sensitive). Vitamin C works anti-inflammatory, redness and pigmentation spots are visibly reduced and blemishes or spots heal faster. It also supports the formation of vitamin E and collagen, the scaffolding of our skin. A serum that will help balance your skin and protect it from environmental influences.
For that extra dose, you can treat yourself to Antioxidant Mask treat yourself and your skin to some time out.

8th tip: Focus on regeneration & building up the skin's protective barrier

We can help the skin with the right products so that it can be balanced and fulfill its natural functions unhindered. You have often read about building up the skin's protective barrier and regeneration. One serum that combines both effects is our Niacinamide serum.

It regulates sebum production, which counteracts the oily side of combination skin and stimulates the production of the skin's own Ceramides , which strengthens it all round. This helps to retain moisture in dry areas and evens out your complexion. In terms of effect, this is a good complement to the Vitamin C serum .

9th tip: It's all a lifestyle question

A healthy lifestyle is of course the basis of any skincare routine. Sufficient exercise, stress reduction or alleviation, a balanced diet and mental hygiene are all part of a holistic approach to skin care. Whether you smoke or drink alcohol also plays a role for your skin.

But: everything in moderation. We don't have to become absolute health gurus. Being aware of what we put in and on our bodies is enough. And of course, this also includes a healthy lifestyle balance, which may also include vegetables and the occasional chocolate.

10th tip: Drink water!

I know you've probably already read this tip in all the health guides out there, but it's true: Water keeps us going, in the truest sense of the word. When you drink enough fluids, your body is better able to carry out the processes that keep it busy throughout the day. And that includes the skin, of course. If you drink enough, you have a stable moisture balance, resulting in a more balanced complexion and, above all, a stable protective barrier (as long as we don't destroy it again with surfactants and the like Cleanse...)

combination skin: Care doesn't have to be complicated

Basically, the care of combination skin is not that much more complicated than that of any other skin type. As promised, I have already introduced you to the products from the combination skin set. This gives you a great base in any case. You can supplement your routine with the other products mentioned in the blog as needed . If you're not quite sure, it's best to order the trial sizes for the set first. That way you can test them individually and see which combination is particularly good for your skin.

I hope I have been able to help you with this article. If you still have any questions about our products or the maintenance of combination skin , please send us an email to info@junglück.de and our Customer Care Team will be happy to help you personally.
