Alcohol worsens the quality of sleep. Unfortunately, this is not true when it comes to the quality of sleep, as the body is far too active for this. Also, you shouldn't go to bed with a full stomach. The digestive process also prevents you from getting a really good night's sleep. The right mattress and the right pillow also make a huge difference. It really is worth investing a little more money here.
