Our oils: From the plant to the bottle - a look behind the scenes

by Lena Severin

Honesty is one of our three core values. It starts with the fact that we want to give you honest advice and provide you with information and help so that you can find the perfect skincare product for your individual needs. But honesty also means that we give you as much insight as possible into the sourcing and processing of the raw materials for our products. And that's exactly what we want to focus on today.

  1. CSR - an important part of our philosophy
  2. So how do the products get into the bottle?
  3. In plain language: the product route of our oils
  4. Honesty: the way forward for us

1. CSR - an important part of our philosophy.

If you're confused by the abbreviation CSR, don't worry! Corporate Social Responsibility is an area that is particularly important in companies that act sustainably, but is also becoming increasingly common in companies that are not (yet) green. CSR management is responsible for ensuring that companies operate sustainably. This includes, for example, social projects, climate protection and optimizing and aligning the entire company to the best possible current sustainable standards. For us as a company that always strives for the greatest possible sustainability, this is an absolutely essential area!

Our CSR team has spent the last few months working on a new website section: An overview of all the ingredientsthat we use in our products, with detailed and easy-to-understand information about their origin, effects, sourcing and even more interesting facts. In addition, our team has worked with Product Development to map out our decision-making process to show you which conditions must be met and which steps must be taken before we actually use an ingredient. Take a look at our decision tree right now!

CSR is therefore an area of the company that also serves to give you transparent insights. So that you really know what's in your care, how it came about and where it comes from. Which brings me to the core question of this article:

2 How do the products get into the bottle?

In general, the supply chain for our raw materials works like this: We work with suppliers who act as an interface between the farmers or producers and their customers, i.e. companies like us. The suppliers place the orders with the farmers or producers or purchase the raw materials directly at the request of the companies. The suppliers usually work according to certain processes along the supply chain, so that the companies can see how the raw material is processed step by step from the starting product and ultimately becomes a usable ingredient. This makes it easier for us to track the manufacturing process and decide whether our quality and sustainability requirements are being met. So we can recommend our products to you with a clear conscience and conviction!

Still too abstract? It can be even more precise! Take our oils as an example to see how your favorite oil gets from the plant to the bottle!

3. plain text: the product route of our oils

Almond Oil

The oilseeds used to produce our Almond Oil are grown organically in Spain. Conditioning takes place during further processing. This is a process in which the seeds are treated at high temperatures to increase the antioxidant effect of the polyphenols contained in the oil. The oil is of course not damaged in the process. In the next step, the seeds are then cold-pressed to obtain the rich oil. The only thing missing is filtering so that it can become the oil in your bathroom cabinet.

"Our Almond Oil"

Rich, nourishing care for skin and hair.

Castor Oil

From farming (certified organic) to production, our Castor Oil is produced in India. The ripe seeds are harvested, purchased from traders and processed in a factory. There, the quality of the harvest is checked before the seeds are cold-pressed and the oil is filtered several times.

"Our Castor Oil"

Provides the skin with antioxidants & strengthens the hair roots.

Jojoba Oil

The process at Jojoba Oil is similar to that at Castor Oil. The only difference is that the seeds are grown organically in Peru and processed in Panama. The processing procedure is the same as for Almond Oil: purchase of the oilseeds, conditioning, cold pressing and filtering. The oil then comes to Germany and can be bottled here.

"Our Jojoba Oil"

Protects your skin & balances sebum production.

 Argan Oil

The seeds for our Argan Oil come from Morocco and are processed using the same cold-pressing method right down to the last step. The current batch is therefore native Argan Oil. For our new delivery, we have ordered the Argan Oil deodorized again. What does that mean? After the seeds have been cold-pressed and the oil has been filtered, it is mixed with steam at a temperature of around 180°C under vacuum. On the one hand, this increases the quality of the argan oil as it becomes more durable and reduces the inherent odor of the oil.

"Our Argan Oil"

Has an antioxidative, antibacterial and disinfecting effect.

Rosehip Seed Oil

The seeds for our Rosehip Seed Oil come from Argentina, again from certified organic cultivation. The seeds are then further processed in Spain and later in Germany. Once the seeds have been purchased and delivered, the conditioning process begins. However, the Rosehip Seed Oil is not cold-pressed. It is obtained by means of CO2 extraction. The special extraction process preserves the Actives better than cold pressing, which means that the dark orange-colored wild rose oil retains the full range of benefits for your skin. Only after extraction is it filtered and ready for bottling.

"Our Rosehip Seed Oil"

Soothes redness, cares for irritated, sensitive and dry skin.

Squalane

Squalane is the lightest of our oils. It is obtained from the vegetable oil residues of olives and is in fact already a natural component of our skin. This is why it is particularly well tolerated - even by babies. Another special feature: due to its light texture, it is absorbed particularly well and does not leave a greasy film on the skin. It is also a carrier, which means that if you apply it after an active ingredient product, it binds these molecules and helps them to penetrate the skin. So it not only has a wonderful effect in the deeper layers of the skin, but the top layer of the skin, the hydrolipid film, also benefits from Squalane. This is because the light oil strengthens this protective film, which helps to keep the skin's moisture balance in balance. If you would like to find out more about our all-rounder, Squalane , I recommend you read this article to read this article. Here you can find out more about its effects and the many different ways it can be used.

"Our Squalane"

Naturally ensures a healthy skin protection barrier.

4. honesty: the way forward for us

From our perspective, it is essential to communicate our processes to the outside world as much as possible transparent . Our aim is to share knowledge about our products, our business and the needs of our skin with you. Because this gives you all the information you need to decide which skincare is right for you. We want you to be able to understand where your products come from and what's in them. We simply want to give you more than just a good skin feeling. And we want you to have a good feeling with us.

Your Lena
