Mindful giving: Coffee date with Eva from @whatevaloves

by Lena Severin

This crazy year will soon be coming to an end. And somehow much faster than expected. It feels like we've blinked once and it's already December again. High time to slow down a little in this fast-paced year. We want to be particularly mindful of ourselves and our loved ones this year. We want to be mindful and enjoy togetherness wherever possible. We want to slow down, relax a little, take care of ourselves and give something back to the important people in our lives. We want to give mindfully this year. What does that mean? You can and should think about this individually.

For me, "mindful giving" primarily means giving the gift of time, relaxation and well-being. Because in the last two years in particular, I had the feeling that so many people around me were missing out on exactly that. What does it mean to you?

I interviewed our brand ambassador Eva from @whatevaloves for a relaxed Advent chat and asked her over a cup of coffee how she spends her pre-Christmas time, what "mindful giving" means to her and what she will surprise her loved ones with this year. A big thank you in advance to Eva for taking the time to tell you and me more about her plans for Christmas.

1 Eva, what does "mindful giving" mean to you?

Gifts are often chosen at random, not enough thought is put into them because there is not enough time or the person receiving the gift may not express a wish. I have to admit that I don't have any big material wishes either and when asked "What do you want", I usually answer "nothing". That's why my husband and I only give each other the gift of time, as we know that time is always in short supply. I really only try to give my family things that they either really want or that they can use or, even better, use up. Of course, this doesn't always work with the children in the household, but even there I avoid buying unnecessary things.

2. what do you do in the run-up to Christmas? Do you take time for yourself and give yourself special attention? Or do you find it difficult not to get caught up in the Christmas rush?

I find it quite difficult to carve out time for myself during the Christmas rush. The to-do list is usually endlessly long and December is often the most stressful month of all.
This year, however, I have decided to take on fewer jobs in December and be offline for at least one day. I love the Advent season, which is actually there to reflect and slow down a bit.
So let's see if it works out this year and whether I can say "That was relaxed" at the end.

3. what is your favorite gift in general?

I prefer to give my husband time as a couple, even if that's not always so easy with two children. In recent years, we've always given each other a weekend in a nice hotel, just the two of us.
Otherwise, as I said, I like to give things that you can use up. This includes cosmetics or something culinary. Gift vouchers are also popular with many people. But I really don't like giving them as gifts, they're somehow too impersonal for me. Incidentally, we give our grandparents a photo calendar or photo book every year.

4. which Christmas set have you chosen and who will you be giving it to?

I chose the Morningbreeze Set with Cleansing Oil, Hyaluronic Acid Day Cream, Niacinamide serum and Rosewater in full sizes.
I'm going to give it to my sister because she works a lot, has two small children and could really do with some self-care. She rarely treats herself to good cosmetics, so it's the perfect gift and you can't go wrong with the JUNGLÜCK care products as they really are suitable for everyone.

5 What does it mean to you to give care as a gift?

As I've already said, I love giving gifts that you can use up and enjoy every day.
Useful things that won't be forgotten in the cupboard or gather dust in the corner. Even if you probably don't have much time for an extensive spa day in your everyday life, you're sure to have a brief moment with the JUNGLÜCK care routine.
