1. what is toner and why should I use it?

Whether dry, normal or blemish prone skin, a toner gives your skin a refreshing feeling. Half cleanser, half care, it provides your skin with soothing, pore-cleansing and revitalizing properties. With the right active ingredients, the liquid cosmetic product can be optimally adapted to your skin type and condition. The finest residues (sebum, make-up) are removed from the skin, the complexion is optimized and moisture prevents the skin from feeling tight.

2. a toner for soothing & care: Calendula toner

What's inside?

Marigolds (Calendula officinalis) have been used as a medicinal plant since the 12th century. Sensitive, dry or cracked skin in particular benefits from the soothing and anti-inflammatory effect. We now also know to whom Marigold owes its healing properties. Its repertoire of valuable ingredients includes secondary plant substances, bitter substances and allantoin. The latter, for example, ensures the regeneration and renewal of cells, for example during wound healing, and also has moisturizing, smoothing and antioxidant effects.
The bitter substance calendulin not only gives Marigold its botanical name Calendula officinalis, but also nourishes and regenerates the skin, soothes irritations and has a pain-relieving effect. The so-called flavonoids are powerful antioxidants that protect the body from "free radicals" Protect and thus support the body's own immune defense and cell renewal. Beta-carotene, which gives the petals of Marigold their color, is converted into vitamin A in the body, which in turn maintains the skin's elasticity and regulates its sebum production.

The marigold is actively supported by Ectoine. The amino acid was originally discovered in bacteria and stabilizes the biological structure as a natural stress protection molecule. This prevents water loss. Ectoine also protects the cell membranes of our skin cells by forming a film and strengthens weakened skin barriers.

The third powerful active ingredient is organic green tea extract, a great antioxidant that protects your skin from oxidative stress, binds moisture and improves the skin's structure. The main active ingredient epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is responsible for this. Admittedly, you can hardly pronounce this name, let alone remember it. It's easier to read Zinc, potassium and Vitamin C, which inhibit inflammation, regulate the water balance and protect you from free radicals Protect.

As you can see, our calendula toner contains a variety of valuable ingredients that not only give you a pleasant freshness, but also soothe skin irritations and moisturize your skin.

Who is toner suitable for?

Our calendula toner is suitable for all skin types. It is just as perfect for normal skin as it is for oily skin. However, thanks to its soothing and moisturizing properties, dry and sensitive skin types benefit in particular.

Zinc - A trace element of great importance for the skin

To remove dirt, excess sebum and make-up from your skin right down to the pores Cleanse, we recommend a gentle but thorough cleansing with toner after cleanser with water and a product of your choice. Our Zinc toner frees your skin from the last, smallest residues and excess sebum. This leaves your skin wonderfully moisturized and perfectly prepared for the further care it receives from you, such as a serum or your moisturizer.

Zinc is the most important trace element for humans after iron. As a component of more than 300 enzymes, it has a wide range of effects in almost all metabolic areas. Enzymes are the engines of our cells and enable all the necessary biochemical reactions in our body to take place correctly. In order for them to perform their task conscientiously, they often need the support of additional cogs.

And this is where Zinc comes into play: as a stabilizing component or as a direct reaction partner, Zinc is involved in many enzymatic reactions. Among other things, it supports antioxidative effective processes, oxygen transport in red blood cells, growth and regeneration processes and the stabilization of biomembranes and the cytoskeleton. Through its direct involvement in collagen synthesis, Zinc also ensures the formation of healthy skin, hair and nails. But Zinc can do even more: By inhibiting special metabolic pathways, the molecule balances out excessive sebum production, which leads to oily and blemished skin, especially during puberty. In addition, Zinc binds moisture and deprives bacteria of the breeding ground they need to multiply and promote skin blemishes.
These great effects can even be scientifically confirmed. A study has shown that a lack of Zinc can promote symptoms such as inflammation, eczema, pimples and wound healing disorders.

Nevertheless, in our new toner Zinc does not have to be used alone Treat. It is supported by Niacinamidethe active form of vitamin B3. Niacinamide reduces sebum production, has a anti-inflammatory and regenerative effect, which can lead to a visible improvement in the appearance of the skin.
The additional horsetail extract from controlled organic cultivation has a particularly high natural content of silicic acid and therefore has a skin-renewing, pore refining and anti-inflammatory effect.

Our Zinc toner reliably takes care of all residues, clears your skin down to the pores and counteracts impurities.

4. a toner-peeling for sensitive skin: PHA

If you are familiar with our range, you may have already seen our BHA or AHA peeling . With the PHA toner we have developed an even better tolerated version of the two fruit acid peels.

As a reminder: BHA, AHA and PHA belong to the hydroxy acid family. They have an exfoliating effect on the skin and are often gentler than mechanical exfoliants such as brushes or granular creams and gels. The great thing about our chemical peels is that you don't have to use them rinse-off and can easily incorporate them into your evening routine and let them work their magic overnight.

But back to PHA! In terms of tolerance for sensitive skin , PHA is the mildest option. BHA is in principle also suitable for sensitive skin, but you should test it carefully and not use it every evening. AHA should not be used on very sensitive skin, as it could be too much for your skin and it could react with redness.

Precisely because PHA is so mild, we have opted for a toner rather than a liquid peeling . This is because toner with PHA is actually intended for daily use. It has a very gentle exfoliating effect and provides moisture, which is especially important for dehydrated skin in order to stabilize the moisture balance.
