When the skin gets out of balance, it is often due to skincare habits that have become routine over the years. Cosmetic products that do not suit your skin type can also drive your skin into a beauty strike.
Dry patches, redness, spots or an oily sheen - the skin rebels individually. For this reason, there is no single secret recipe for beautiful skin, as every skin is unique. And yet there are do's and don'ts that apply to all skin types.
And there are skincare mistakes that creep unconsciously into your daily skincare routine or that you may never have heard of. In this article, I would like to inspire you to take a closer look at your skincare rituals and cosmetic products. This can reveal beauty mistakes that may be the cause of your personal skin problem.
Personally, I used products that were far too harsh for years, didn't give my skin a break and was impatient when a product didn't immediately deliver visible results as if by magic. Today, I know that proper skincare is much more of a holistic concept that is supported by important pillars such as mild products that suit the skin type, a gentle approach to the skin and a healthy lifestyle.
In my opinion, the same applies to skincare as to all areas of life: it pays to leave familiar paths if they don't lead you to your goal. Sometimes it just takes time to realize this. But that's completely okay, because a relaxed inner attitude also has a positive effect on the appearance of your skin and beauty mistakes can be quickly rectified. Are you ready? Let's go!
- Facial cleansing - thorough but gentle
- The right order of skin care
- Do you know your skin type?
- Give your skin time

1 Facial cleansing - thorough but gentle
The basis of skin care is facial cleansing. This is where beauty mistakes often creep in, disrupting the skin's natural balance and protective function. Although the skin needs to be thoroughly cleansed of sebum, dirt particles and make-up every day, the "more is more" approach is often followed: more drying surfactants for oily skin, coarse scrubs for acne prone skin or alcohol-based and harsh waters that are supposed to get to the root of impurities.
This often worsens the skin condition because the skin cannot express itself in any other way and so it protests in its own way, for example with redness, spots or dryness. When cleansing your face, you can make small but important adjustments:
- Wash your face consistently twice a day with a cleanser with mild surfactants that does not overly degrease the skin and preserves its natural pH-value .
- Avoid products containing alcohol, such as toner with alcohol.
- Make sure to rinse your face with lukewarm water Cleanse.
- Avoid mechanical exfoliation. Coarse peeling grains can lead to a worsening of the skin's appearance, especially with sensitive skin, couperose, rosacea or acne.
pH-neutral cleansing products with mild surfactants Cleanse the skin without drying it out or disrupting the pH-value . If the skin is intact, it prevents pathogens and harmful substances from penetrating the body. Harsh cleansers or cleansing products with aggressive surfactants can disrupt this protective barrier and should therefore be systematically eliminated.
My tip for daily facial cleansing: the Junglück Cleansing Oil and the Junglück Rosewater to refresh and tone the skin. The AHA peeling with mild fruit acids and Salicylic Acid removes flakes and cleanses the pores gently but effectively. Use it once or twice a week in the evening. If you have very sensitive skin, rosacea, couperose or neurodermatitis, you should consult a dermatologist before using the AHA peeling.
2 The right order of skin care
The basics of Skincare are well known: Wash your face, refresh your skin with a toner such as pure Rosewater and Tone and finish with a face cream apply. What is less well known, however, is the order in which the skincare is applied so that it can have the best possible effect.
As a rule of thumb, clear products such as serums or aloe vera gel should always be applied before cream . The liquid Texture is absorbed particularly quickly and deeply and provides the skin with intensive moisture and active ingredients such as retinal. The face cream contains richer Actives, such as nourishing oils. These keep the skin supple and virtually retain Actives from the serum in the skin.
Here is the care process in detail:
- Facial cleansing with a mild cleansing product, such as a Cleansing Oil
- Once or twice a week, use peeling to remove flakes and deposits from the skin. This AHA peeling is well suited here.
- If required, a face mask can be applied once a week after peeling
- Toning and Tone with alcohol-free toner or pure water. Rosewater
- serum apply
- Eye Cream gently with the ring finger pat in
- Care cream apply
- UV protection during the day if required apply
If your skin shows that it needs different Actives due to climatic or hormonal changes, cream and serum can be adjusted.

The right order - layering
3 Do you know your skin type?
If the skin rebels, this can be an indication that it is not getting what it actually wants. It is particularly tricky if you have a mixed type such as dry skin with blemishes or combination skin with an oily T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) and dry areas of the face.
If you are not sure about your skin type, it is worth having your skin analyzed by a dermatologist. If you know your skin exactly, you can tailor your skin Moisturize. Perhaps it needs more moisture on the forehead, richer care on the cheeks and pore-clearing care on the chin, such as Junglück AHA peeling ? It is worth remaining flexible with your beauty program and responding individually to the current and local needs of your skin.
Incidentally, many products from Junglück are suitable for several skin types. The Cleansing Oil , for example, can also be used on oily skin, as the high-quality plant-based oils does not clog the pores. If you have very sensitive skin or inflammatory conditions, you should consult your dermatologist before using active ingredient cosmetics - for example with retinal or fruit acids.
4 Give your skin time
Every day, the top layer of skin sheds dead flakes. Over the course of a month, your epidermis completely renews itself. Although you cannot renew your skin from one day to the next with high-quality cosmetic products, a good skincare range can support it wonderfully.
If you want to boost skin renewal with active ingredient cosmetics such as Retinal serum , you should give your skin time to get used to the active ingredient. Just as we often need some time to get used to new circumstances, the skin also needs this familiarization phase. Patience is particularly important with products with a slightly peeling effect such as retinal or fruit acids (AHA) to avoid irritation.
Sometimes a so-called initial aggravation can also occur. Impurities may then occur more frequently. This will subside after a short time and is no reason to stop using the product as long as no severe reactions occur. The skin should have settled down again after a few days.
Please also give cosmetic products some time to show visible results. As already mentioned, there are no miracle products that conjure up a Photoshop complexion overnight. Think of our skincare products as your skin's personal assistants. They work diligently and with commitment and the positive effect can be seen on the very first day. Gradually, a solid and healthy foundation is created - and only healthy skin can glow.
5 The biggest beauty no-gos
I've already mentioned it: I used to put my skin through a lot. For example, when I was a teenager with beautiful skin and secretly used my mother's rich anti-ageing creamcream and was surprised that I suddenly developed spots.
Or when I thought I was mixing my own fruit acidpeeling and was so impatient that I made a mixture with far too high a percentage instead of slowly getting my skin used to the AHA acid. But as the saying goes? Mistakes are there to be learned from. Of course, you still don't have to commit these beauty no-goes:
- Scrub and polish your face to a high shine when cleansing. All you need to do is gently remove dirt and excess sebum.
- Hot water rinses valuable oils from the skin. Of course you should treat yourself to the luxury of a full bath from time to time. But not every day, please. Your skin will thank you for a few degrees lower.
- Are you wondering why you keep getting pimples in certain places? Could it be that you have unconsciously been thinking about your hands to face ? Although hand hygiene has probably improved significantly for most people since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, really clean fingers are a rarity in times of smartphones and computers. So make sure you keep your hands away from your face and regularly disinfect your smartphone and keyboards. These can quickly become a hotbed of germs.
- Speaking of fingers, please keep them away from pimples. I know it's not easy. Squeezing a pimple can cause nasty inflammation of the tissue and acne marks. It takes a really long time for these to heal - if they heal at all. Instead, try to somehow make peace with a pimple and dab it with anti-inflammatory agents such as Rosewater several times a day. The unwanted guest usually disappears on its own after a few days.
- Use skincare that really suits your skin type and don't be fooled by seductive-sounding marketing strategies.
- We change our wardrobe with the seasons. Skin care should also be adapted to the season. While the skin produces less sebum in winter and is additionally dried out by the cold and heating air, it needs more moisture when temperatures rise.
- More than 90 percent of skin ageing is due to UV radiation. Sun protection should therefore be an integral part of your beauty routine and not just a matter of course in your luggage.
6 The best beauty do's
A positive mindset lowers stress levels and a relaxed inner attitude also has a positive effect on the skin. If stress hormones such as cortisol are not reduced through relaxation, they can trigger inflammatory processes in the body. That's why I'm starting my list of the best beauty do's with the tip to consciously relax every day.
- Daily relaxation rituals help you to let go and come back to your center. Whether you relax on a walk, on a yoga mat or with a cup of tea - winding down and checking in with yourself is so valuable. Of course, you can also celebrate your daily Skincare by consciously performing each care step in a pleasant atmosphere.
- Avoid harsh ingredients in creams and the like and treat your skin with velvet paws. Junglück deliberately avoids fragrances, parabens, mineral oil, fillers and silicones - pure products for pure skin and a clear conscience.
- Support your skin from the inside by drinking plenty of still water or unsweetened teas and making sure you eat a balanced diet with lots of fresh vegetables, fiber, minerals and high-quality oils.
- Protect your skin from free radicals and provide it with antioxidants. From the inside with a vitamin-rich diet, from the outside with antioxidant skin care such as Junglück Vitamin C serum .
- Make sure you regularly check the expiration date on your cosmetic products. Just like food, cosmetic products also have an expiration date, which you can find on the packaging: a small jar with a number. If it says 6M on the jar, for example, the product has a shelf life of six months after opening. Also make sure to protect cosmetics from exposure to light and heat Protect.
Let go of the belief that a lot of care helps a lot. It is better to consistently but gently care for your skin Cleanse and Moisturize and expose it to as few stressors as possible.
I hope this post inspires you to see your skin as a fantastic miracle that needs to be treated with loving patience and really good care. Take care of yourself and your skin!
