Beauty tools - 5 dos and don'ts with skincare helpers

by editors

Skincare tools such as face brushes and needle rollers are all the rage. Here you can find out what these little beauty helpers can do and what you should look out for when using them.

  1. Face brushes - peeling, cleanser and massage in one
  2. Microneedling with the needle roller
  3. Pore suction - deep cleaning of the pores?
  4. Face roller with jade or rose quartz
  5. Optimize skin care - tips for your skin care routine

1. face brushes - peeling, cleanser and massage in one

Whether electric or mechanical - face brushes are available in many designs. Thanks to the fine bristles Cleanse they thoroughly cleanse the skin and improve microcirculation in the skin through the massage effect. At the same time, flakes are removed.
However, this beauty tool is not suitable for every skin type. Solid plastic bristles can be too coarse for very sensitive skin Don't want to do without your favorite facial cleansing tool? Face brushes with soft silicone nubs or extra soft face brushes are gentler on the skin. Simply apply a little Cleansing Oil apply and then gently brush over your face in a circular motion.

Do: Make sure you only glide the brush over your skin with gentle pressure in a circular motion. Our skincare expert Michael advises using face brushes with firm plastic bristles only once every two weeks as a mechanical peeling To give your glow a boost or to gently loosen calluses, peelings that do not require mechanical stimulation are suitable.

Our fruit acid peels, the AHA and BHA peeling are the gentle alternatives to mechanical helpers and can even be used daily, depending on as needed . They gently remove calluses and Treat combat blackheads in depth. However, a dermatologist should be consulted beforehand if you have any skin conditions. You can find out which fruit acid peel is best suited to your skin in this article.

Don't: Please do not use face brushes with firm bristles with pressure. Mechanical peels should also for acne prone skin be avoided in order to prevent smear infections caused by pus or additional irritation to already stressed skin. Caution should also be exercised with rosacea or couperose.

2. microneedling with the needle roller

Kim Kardashian is not entirely uninvolved in the hype surrounding the most prickly of all beauty trends - microneedling. When she presented the results of the so-called vampire lift on Instagram a few years ago, she initially caused a moment of shock with her bloody face. In a professional microneedling procedure, small injuries are inflicted on the skin using an electric handpiece with many small surgical steel needles. The micro-injuries stimulate the skin's regeneration process and are also intended to stimulate collagen production in the skin.

DIY needle rollers for microneedling at home are less effective than medical microneedling as the needles do not penetrate as deeply into the skin. Our cosmetics expert Michael sees a further problem with needle rollers for home use: "Microneedling should be carried out by trained professionals; DIY applications without gloves and a sufficiently sterile procedure risk contamination and germs in the tools." And germs on the skin are not a good idea. Therefore: Disinfect needle rollers thoroughly before and after each use or go straight to an expert.

Do: If your skin is not sensitive, gently roll over your face as instructed. Thoroughly disinfect the needle roller before and after DIY microneedling Cleanse and only use it on equally thoroughly cleansed skin.

Don't: Please do not "roll" over the face with strong pressure. If you have rosacea, acne or other skin conditions, it is better to only watch microneedling videos on the internet.

3. pore suction - deep cleaning of the pores?

It was hard to avoid this beauty tool on Instagram: pore vacuum cleaners. Say what? The pore vacuum cleaner is designed to remove sebum and flakes from the pores like a small vacuum cleaner, preventing blackheads and spots from forming. The nozzle creates a vacuum, similar to a microdermabrasion, but without the peeling granules that are blasted onto the skin. Anyone who is prone to blackheads will probably dream of such a device.

However, pore suction devices should be used with extreme caution, as the risk of injury is very high. The vacuum irritates the skin and can even cause bruising. If you have skin conditions such as acne or rosacea, it is better to keep your hands off the pore vacuum. The symptoms could worsen. Pimples could deflate and the purulent contents could be spread over the skin, causing new inflammations. So not at all what you actually wanted to achieve with it. Our conclusion: It's better to use gentler and more skin-friendly methods!

For blemished skin, we recommend our mild BHA peeling . The 2% Salicylic Acid penetrates the pores and gently cleanses them from the inside. At the same time, the BHA peeling calming , anti-inflammatory and moisturizes and freshens thanks to organically grown aloe vera.

Still want to give the pore cleanser a try? Then try it on the lowest setting and take extra care when cleaning less sensitive areas of the face such as the chin and forehead. As a more skin-friendly alternative, however, we would like to recommend a skin scrubber with ultrasound. These are much better tolerated and much safer to use at home.

4. face roller with jade or rose quartz

They have also taken the beauty sphere by storm - face rollers with jade or rose quartz. After being rather critical of these beauty tools, here's a big YES! Because you can safely use a face roller with jade or rose quartz - if your skin is not hypersensitive and reacts to every touch with redness.

The cooling effect of the face roller and the gentle massage stimulate microcirculation in the finest blood vessels in the skin, which improves the blood supply to the cells and thus improves the supply of nutrients and oxygen. Whether they improve the absorption of cosmetics has not been proven. What is certain, however, is that most people find the facial rollers pleasant on the skin, which can increase their sense of well-being.

Skincare expert Michael knows: "Beauty rollers can stimulate lymph flow and, through targeted massage techniques similar to lymphatic drainage, help lymph accumulations in the nasolabial area or in puffy eyes AM to drain away more quickly and make you look awake more quickly."

Do: Guide the face roller from the center of the face outwards to the ear and from the chin down the neck towards the décolleté. You can gently massage your Skincare with the roller after cleanser leave-on . Apply some of your favorite serum - for example our Hyaluron Concentrate or the Vitamin C serum - to the skin and gently run the roller over the skin. Only use the beauty roller on clean skin and clean the roller thoroughly after each use.

My tip: Turn the facial massage with the facial roller into a little ritual. Perhaps with a nice scented candle, with positive affirmations that you say to yourself silently or with conscious breathing. In this way, you can turn your skincare routine into a relaxing me-time and actively help to reduce stress hormones, which can lead to inflammation in the body and also affect the skin if their levels are permanently too high.

Don't: As with all beauty tools, less is more when it comes to facial rollers. Make sure you massage the skin without applying too much pressure. The beauty roller also glides better over the skin if a skin care product has been applied beforehand.

5. optimize skin care - tips for the skin care routine

The effect of many beauty tools has not been proven, and some sensitive skin can be irritating. In my opinion, it makes sense to optimize other areas of the beauty routine - skin care, skin care habits and personal lifestyle.

Towels, washcloths, make-up remover pads: hygiene is king! Bacteria like to romp around on textiles. Therefore: change towels at least twice a week and use a separate Towel for your face. Always gently pat your face dry, never rub it. Washcloths and make-up remover pads made of fabric should be washed after use. for acne prone skin also change your pillow more often.

Make-up remover wipes are not only a burden on the environment, they can also harm your skin because some contain potentially skin-irritating ingredients such as fragrances or chemical preservatives. You can find out why we don't use them here https://junglueck.de/blogs/wissen/parabene-und-synthetische-konservierungsstoffe-in-der-kosmetik . Make-up remover wipes also produce an unnecessary amount of waste. If you want to cleanse your skin thoroughly but gently Cleanse , we recommend our Cleansing Oil, which is suitable for all skin types - even blemish prone skin, yay! Simply leave-on and gently remove with a damp washcloth or textile make-up remover pad et voilà: Deep cleansing and gentle peeling effect in one, without any chemicals or scratchy bristles.

Showering and bathing: For most of us, the daily shower is as much a part of our daily routine as our morning coffee. However, dermatologists recommend not showering every day and instead washing your skin more often. Meow, don't feel like it? I understand! If you do need a daily shower, only cleanse your armpits and intimate areas with a mild product like our shower gel with mild sugar-based surfactants. So as not to disturb the skin's protective acid mantle, don't shower or bathe too hot. The water temperature should be a maximum of 38 degrees. Bathing mermaids should leave the bath after about 15 minutes. A dash of nourishing organicAlmond Oil in the bath water protects and cares for your skin while you splash around.

Acute pimples: Blackheads can be treated wonderfully with our AHA peeling and BHA peeling , as they loosen scales and also gently but effectively tackle the sebum in the pores. But what about acute pimples? As hard as it is sometimes, please keep your hands off the red, shiny thing. Otherwise it could turn into a glowing red super-thing that can also leave pimple marks that take months to disappear. Rough pressure can cause the pus to spread through the tissue and cause inflammation deep in the skin. Germs can also get into the skin via the fingers. Instead, make sure to gently cleanser the skin AM and PM - for example with our Cleansing Oil and the soothing and anti-inflammatory Rosewater - and dab pimples with a little BHA peeling , which remains on the skin overnight. Regular cleansing of the skin by a beautician can improve the skin's appearance.

Do not touch your face - bacteria can get onto the skin via your fingers and cause inflammation. If you also scratch at areas with underlayers, this can cause micro-injuries that can become infected. Also disinfect your smartphone every day, as countless pathogens collect on the display.

Avoid stress and eat healthily: Numerous studies have shown that chronic stress can lead to a range of health problems. Your skin also suffers when your mind is under too much pressure. If stress hormones are not reduced because there is not enough relaxation, the stress hormone level in the blood remains permanently high and chronic inflammation can develop in the body. For this reason, skin diseases such as neurodermatitis and acne should also be treated holistically and not just symptomatically. This holistic approach includes a healthy diet with plenty of green leafy vegetables, fiber, whole grain products and good omega-3 fatty acids as well as stress-reducing exercises such as yoga, meditation or relaxed walks through the forest. This has also been proven: the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for relaxation, is activated in the forest and helps to reduce stress hormones. Diving into the greenery more often is therefore much more than just a nice outing. Your skin will be happy too!

Conclusion - beautiful skin, a complete package

I look at my health, and therefore that of my skin, from a more holistic perspective - pure and well-tolerated cosmetics, a balanced and anti-inflammatory diet, healthy food for my mind, relaxation exercises and plenty of exercise in nature.

Beauty tools such as a face brush or roller are nice gimmicks in the bathroom, and I have a few myself. Unfortunately, none of these tools gave me the super glow I was hoping for. Nevertheless, I like to incorporate them into my beauty routine from time to time. Simply because it's fun to bring a breath of fresh air into my daily routine - and skincare should also bring joy. However, my skin has clearly shown me when I've taken on too much and that scrubbing it too roughly really gets on my nerves.

Perhaps I can inspire you to look at your skin care from such a comprehensive perspective and view your daily beauty ritual like a puzzle, which includes mild skin care that is suitable for your skin type as well as a beauty boost from within through a healthy diet and good nourishment for your mind.

And if a pimple does appear: treat it locally and keep calm. If you have severe or chronic skin problems, you should always consult a dermatologist and perhaps also seek nutritional advice, as the gut and skin are closely linked.

With this in mind: take care of yourself!
